pet peeve

I don't know about you but I get SUPER annoyed when someone is late. If you tell me you will be somewhere at 10AM for example, I expect you to be there exactly at 10AM or even like 5-10 minutes early. I consider early as on time and on time as borderline late haha. Unfortunately, I know a few people that are habitually late... 1-2 times I understand but 10 times?!? That's unacceptable. What's worse, these people don't think they're late if they show up like 15 minutes after the scheduled time... Don't they know the trouble and hassle they cause for the person that is waiting for them?? By the way, it's not OK when you know you will be late and you call the other person just 10-15 minutes before the scheduled time to tell he/she that you will be late... this does not make everything fine. What I don't understand is that if you know you are usually late, why don't you just do things like 10-15 minutes earlier so you will be on time?

Tell me if you have heard these sayings before from the people who are consistently late to everything. I'll also tell you the real meaning behind them:

"I'm just down the street." = I just got on the highway and will actually be there in 15 minutes.

"I'm on my way right now." = I'm still at home, haven't dressed, haven't gotten ready, will actually be there in about 30 minutes.

"What time? OK, I'll be there." = add about 30 minutes to that time and that is when I will really be there.
